Insurance Struggle

By on November 3, 2017

Now comes the tedious part of the insurance struggle. Back and forth…back and forth. We had FIVE contractors come out to evaluate the damage and all of them provided estimates surpassing what insurance offered. (INSERT FACE PALM HERE) Our friends are having trouble just getting someone to go out and check on the damage on their house. I understand that this process takes time but it’s been two months and we’re still living in a sweat box. We had a small cool front come through last week but now that’s over and we’re back to 100% humidity.

I’m so ready to get the house worked on so I can finally enjoy still having a roof over my head. We’re aiming towards either of these two contractors that seemed to have a good idea of the amount of work this house is going to take. One contractor (not in consideration) suggested we tile over our very nice and undamaged…ORIGINAL hardwood floors. Are you kidding me? Who does that? He is also not being considered because he insulted my husband and my knowledge of windows! Let’s be real, I know what I’m talking about. I rolled my eyes and just let him talk for a little bit.

I’m moving on to a lighter subject because no one wants to read about insurance. The other day I found out that you can renew your glasses/contacts prescriptions online without having to go see an optometrist. I jumped on that bandwagon so quick! I’ve been wearing the same glasses for the past 7 years. That’s how much my eyesight hasn’t changed. Even my doctor said just use the same pair. So, I went to Glasses USA and picked out a pair that I liked and fit my face shape. Let’s see how long it takes to get those babies and if they are any good. I’m curious about my prescription though. I’m not sure it’s totally correct. I’ll keep you updated. 😉
